Dear friend; Get Firefox

June 18th, 2008 · 1 Comment · Geek

I have tried so many things to persuade a friend of mine (J) to download Firefox. But he won’t; he’s a Microsoft fanboi. So I had a great idea (sort of).

Now Firefox 3 has been released, I downloaded the installer, but it on a disc, give it to a mutual friend and told him to give it to J. The mutual friend will then say something along the lines of it being a cracked game which J wants. Perfect? No, probably not. He will open the installer, find out it is Firefox and shred the disc. But I thought it was worth the try, anyway.

I also included this readme file:

James;

Before you go and break this disc into thousands of tiny fragments, let me tell you a story.

There was once a young boy with the initials ‘JAM’. He often got teased by his friends because he wasn’t secure while browsing the internet. He also did not have the capability to block annoying ads which were on most webpages. These include those pointless ‘Shoot 10 ducks to claim a free laptop’ as well as Google, Yahoo, and any other ad company thinkable.

JAM got many viruses, various pieces of adware, and generally did not have a very safe and secure time browsing the vast internet. He also had a browser which often decided not to respond, and close down for no reason. One day, however, a friend of his recommended ‘Reclaiming the Internet’. JAM liked the sound of this idea, so he installed the best, most secure, customizable browser yet. He also did not get any more viruses from just browsing freely, he only got them after viewing naughty websites, and he had made his browser exactly how
he wanted it.

How, you may ask? Well, the answer is simple, JAM installed Firefox 3.0!

Do you want to be like JAM and have the ultimate browsing experience?
I thought so, install using the installer provided, and have a much more enjoyable time on the web.

Think he will fall for it? Neither did I =P
