If I were gay…

…I’d probably be crying my eyes out right now. Why? School. Yup, that’s right. All around school, where ever you go, you hear people making, stupid, pointless homophobic remarks. For instance this morning in the corridor I heard a couple of people shout “<name> for men!”. They were obviously pissing about, because they were shouting it about their mate, but it still isn’t nice because they’re using the word “gay” as an insult. I was tempted to turn around and ask them why they did it, but they wouldn’t listen, no one ever does.

Another example is on the tables. In almost every class room, there’s either a table or chair with “UR GAY” or “<name> is GAY” inscribed onto it. It just pisses me off so much because I’m aware of the suffering and emotional pain that some gays and bisexuals go through.

On top of all the homophobia, they have to come out at some point to their friends and family. I can’t imagine how hard it could be, especially with anti-gay parents or highly religious parents.

Alex made a quite humorous post on the topic of ‘Coming Out’.

When I came out as straight, everyone was fine :P

If only it was that easy for homosexuals, and everyone was as understanding as I hope I am. I’m not saying that I’ve never used homophobic remarks, I haven’t in a long time though, but I’m just saying that an awful lot of people just don’t seem to understand.

On a more light-hearted note:

Jamie (EP); If I were Gay.
