Stupid. Absolutely stupid idea. The point of Torchwood was to have a Doctor Who related program for older viewers. Okay, so I’m not exactly an older viewer, but I like to think that I’m mature enough to watch Torchwood.

By editing the sci-fi drama for children, I think that a lot will be missed out, and some important aspects, such as the strong ‘relationships’ between members of Torchwood, will be cut out. Especially, something which I think makes the program so good, is the way they incorporate homosexuality into a sci-fi, making viewers more aware of some peopls sexual preferences.

Also, all of the gore and shooting will probably be edited too, along with innuendos and strong language. I’m not saying that strong language makes a program ‘cool’, but if you find a man with half his guts ripped out lying beside him, you’re not exactly going to say, “Oh, golly gosh.” are you?!

What’s more, I think my Dad wants me to watch this edited version instead of the proper Torchwood. I’m going to try and persuade him out of the idea because it sounds so awful. You can’t make a mature program suitable for children; it just doesn’t work.

Only 8 more days, now! Unless I have to watch the kids version, then it’s 15.
